April 20, 2018 – Noosa, Australia
After driving up from Port Macquarie we spent an lovely afternoon at Shelly Beach in Nambucca Heads (with Levi tasting sand for the first time).
The next day it was all about Byron Bay, the East Coasts hippies capital. It is a cute town with many independent cafes as well as mainstream stores – something for everyone. We hiked up Cape Byron to see the lighthouse, watched surfers catching waves at Wategos Beach, strolled through the city and ended the day with a tacky, pink sunset at Broken Head beach. All in all the perfect day.
Driving up the Gold Coast we stopped at Burleigh Beach yet did not stay all too long due to strong winds and sand that was flying everywhere.
Once we reached Brisbane we ran a little out of weather luck. It was not cold but grey and cloudy. We still spent an afternoon and the next morning in the city especially enjoying Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands area that mainly consists of a kid’s water playground and a swimming pool with a front row view of downtown. All free of charge!
We stayed at a campground in Noosa for the night, enjoyed jumping in the pool and Levi shared his breakfast with two ducks. We shared it with dozens of mosquitos but at least one of us had fun. Luckily we managed to hike along Noosa’s coastline for at least 8km before we had to escape from both the rain, and palm-sized spiders. Oh Australia.
Again: It‘s a pleasure to read about your adventures and to watch your beautiful pictures!
